  if you are seriously interested, I'd suggest you join the licensing executives society - LES - which is all about this. Its $225 / year, less if you are a student. They publish two journals on this topic, hold conferences, have training programs and a mentor program. In a few big cities in the US they have local meetings - there is one every month in silicon valley.
